Service: Private, Jeter's Company, South Carolina Light Artillery, CSA [He was not a lieutenant in the Macbeth Artillery according to its Combined Service Records, which list him as a private, and the testimony of two soldiers in the unit who said that he was a corporal, a rank likely attained after the last muster roll entry of 30 April, 1864.
