Birth: 1849
Death: Nov. 11, 1912

Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Navy at Pennsylvania and served as a Captain of the Top. His place of action was at sea, northeast Atlantic, west of the English Channel. His citation reads "For courageous conduct in going over the stern of the USS Constitution at sea, 13 February 1879, during a heavy gale, and cutting the fastenings of the ship's rudder chains". (bio by: Don Morfe)
