Daniel Marvin Thurston was the son of Ebenezer Thurston and Hannah Albro. He married Mary Lovina Allen in 1847 in Ohio. They were the parents of two daughters:
Frances Adaline Thurston (Krager) and Hannah Lovina Ford (Reed). Mary died December 10, 1850 in Erie County, Ohio. He then married Emmeline "Emily" Ford on August 21, 1851 in Erie County, Ohio.

The following appeared in the Parsons Daily Sun, Parsons, Kansas, Sunday, November 14, 1886.
D. M. Thurston, one of the early settlers of this county, and father of C. S. Thurston and Mrs. W. Meixell of this city, died at his home six miles west of the city yesterday.

[My Note: I believe that it should have read, "...father of Mrs. C. S. Thurston" --his daughter, Elizabeth Eleanora married Charles Stott Thurston. Mrs. W. Meixell was his daughter, Clara Jane "Carrie" Thurston Meixell.

Also, the date of this article is obviously 1886. Daniel's tombstone says that he died 1887. I believe that probably the date wasn't cut into the stone until later and they made a mistake with the year.]
