JOHN PATTERSON
A death took place at the Page County Home Sunday morning, March 21, 1920, when John Patterson of near Hepburn passed away of dropsy, at the age of 71 years. Mr. Patterson, formerly was employed by the month at or near Hepburn He became a patient of the Page County Home last October. He is survived by a brother who lives in Villisca, a sister in Shenandoah, and two brothers at Sugar Creek, Missouri. The remains were taken from here to Villisca, Tuesday, in the motor hearse of J. B. M. Pruitt and were accompanied by Mr. Pruitt and the steward of the County Home, W. C. Finley. A short funeral services was conducted at the grave in Villisca, Tuesday afternoon by the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church there, Rev. E. S. Menoher. Interment was in the small cemetery on the south side of Villisca, where Mr. Patterson's mother was buried sixty-five years ago. Effort was made to find the mother's grave, but it could not be located, so the son's grave was placed in the same burial ground. It is said that interments were made in the same small cemetery even before Mr. Patterson's mother was buried there.

DIES AT PAGE COUNTY HOME
John F. Patterson, Former Resident of this Community, Dies Saturday Near Clarinda
John F. Patterson, for many years a resident of Villisca and community, died Saturday of last week at the Page County Home near Clarinda, Iowa.
The body was brought to Villisca, Tuesday and burial was made at three o'clock in the cemetery in Southwest Villisca beside the mother of the deceased. Short funeral services in charge of Rev. E. S. Menoher of the Villisca Methodist Church were conducted at the cemetery.
John F. Patterson was born in Greenwich, Ohio to John William Patterson and Mary Ann Hardesty and at the time of his death was seventy-one years, three months, and five days of age. In 1864 the deceased came to Villisca with his parents and lived for many years in Villisca and the community north of town. For about fifteen years he was a resident of Kearney, Nebraska. He later returned to Iowa and spent his last days in Page County.
He married Alice Mary Wilson on February 23, 1871 in Montgomery County, Iowa.
Mrs. Patterson and one daughter preceded the deceased in death. Three sons and three daughters survive him. None of them reside in this vicinity.
William Reed Patterson of this city is a half-brother of the deceased. Susan Patterson of Shenandoah and Mrs. Louisa Hedges, who lives in Canada, are sisters of the deceased.
Mr. Patterson was one of the pioneer residents of this county and will be remembered here by a number of the other citizens of the community.
