Mark E "Ed" Walters, 78, of South Beatty Street died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Franke's Dairy and was a member of First Christian Church. He was an avid sportsman and former member of the Franklin Grizzly Cubs basketball team.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a. m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Michael T. Hogg officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8. p.m. today at Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel, on Pearl Street. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Choir, American Heart Association or Diabetes Association.
Mr. Walters was born May 4, 1918, in Franklin, the son of Willard and Merle Campbell Walters. He married Ruby L. Franke Dec. 12,1949, in Franklin. She survives. Also surviving are a son, David L. Walters of Columbus; daughters, Sharon Walters, Carolyn West and Nancy Day of Columbus, and Lisa Thayer of Hope; a brother, Frank Walters of Yuma, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
