KAREN BACA Beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend, Karen Lynn Baca, 52, of Las Vegas, passed away April 14, 2010. She was born Jan. 25, 1958, in San Bernardino, Calif., and was a 23-year resident of Nevada. Karen worked for Smith's Food and Drug for 22 years. She lost her four-year battle with cancer seven weeks before the birth of her first grandchild, Phenix Lynne. Karen was a strong supporter of the fight against cancer and is a civic hero for many who have fought this terrible disease. She was recognized by Kellogg's for her long struggle with the disease and they featured her on the back of the Vanilla Almond cereal box last October. She will be remembered most for her positivity, sense of humor, caring nature and smile. She was nice to everyone she met and decided she would make the world a happier place by giving one compliment a day. Karen is survived by her husband, Greg; parents, Bettye and Rick Fisher; children, Ryan, Lacy, Andrew and Kayleigh; and two cats, Butters and Jax. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at New Horizons Academy, 6701 W. Charleston Blvd.
