RECORD FROM THE FAMILY BIBLE OF LIEUTENANT COLONEL ISAAC MOTTE, WHO WAS ON
THE STAFF OF GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON.

Married on Thursday Morning 18th December 1845 at St. Philip’s Church,
Charleston, by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Christopher E. Gadsden, Bishop of So Ca
Jacob Rhett Motte, M.D. son of the late Abraham Motte, to Mary Motte, only
daughter of the late Dr. H. Maham Haig; all of Charleston, S.C.

Dr. J. Rhett Motte, died at Exeter of Typhoid fever, 29th Nov’r 1868.
Advent Sunday - At rest beside his children here at Exeter. Broken and weary - Now with God.
