Birth: Feb., 1879
Death: May 18, 1917
Crockett County
Tennessee, USA

She died in 1917 of uremia. My grandmother said she remembered that they had been working out in the fields and when they came in for dinner, they found her crouched behind the wood stove, between the stove and the wall, trying to keep warm. She was ill and having chills. Her death certificate said she died of acute Bright's disease, which is now known as nephritis, or inflammation of the kidneys. She was ill 1 month and 21 days before she died at the age of 38, leaving behind a husband and 7 children. My grandmother at the age of 13 found herself caring for 4 younger siblings.

Her grave is marked by a small stone with just the inititals LTD (Liza Tubbs Dodd). My grandmother said they were too poor to afford a headstone. Her brother Connie Dodd had the stone made to mark their mother's grave.

You were my great-grandmother. I never knew you, but I've heard a lot about you. Thank you for giving me the best grandma in the world.
