Son of Hermann Frederick and Maria Saum, there is some evidence that my Great Grandfather August was born in Greifenberg, Pommern, Germany.
He was married to Adele Klatt on 2 April 1904 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI.
August and Della had six children: George, Gertrude, Jeannette, William, Patricia and Beulah, my paternal grandmother.
The family lost George to sickness while living in Bloomington, Illinois, in January 1921. His body was sent back to Milwaukee, WI and his resting place is not known at this time.
August was a Confectioner by trade and owned Frederick's Ice Cream shops in Detroit, MI. The family home was located in East Detroit, on Chalmers Av, in a neighborhood populated, at the time, by German and Polish immigrants.
