Ensign J. C. Bournique, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #1235 on 14 Sept. 1918. Killed in a seaplane accident along with two others. Officially all three bodies were not recovered. However one Chicago-based news report stated ENS Bournique's body washed ashore on 28 Sept., but there is no record of a funeral service and burial.

ENS Bournique was survived by his parents, Eugene Augustus and Stella (Curtis) Bournique, and sisters Helen and Ruth.
