Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He enlisted in the US Navy at New York and served as a Ordinary Seaman. His citation reads "On board the USS Iroquois, Delaware River, 7 September 1871. Jumping overboard at the imminent risk of his life, King rescued on the crew of that vessel from drowning". (bio by: Don Morfe)
