I believe Jeff was the six child born to HT Davis and Elizabeth Holmes, they married 8 Jan 1880 in Catahoula. On the 1900 Cherokee County Census we find Jeff a baby living with his five other brothers and sisters, his father who is 41 years old and step-mother Amelia who is 19 years old.

We next find Jeff and Ida Mae on the 1940 Harris County Census living with their children:

Household Role Gender Age Birthplace
Jeff Davis Head M 40 Texas
Ida Mae Davis Wife F 38 Texas
Mary Francis Davis Daughter F 13 Texas
William Taylor Davis Son M 4 Texas

May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way. May the smiles of the martyrs greet your own as darkness turns into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more as songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God.
