She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one infant daughter, Jennifer Ashton, and one great-grandson, Isaac Gottlieb.

Virginia worked as a nurse for the Peoria Health Department for several years, and later volunteered at the Peoria Red Cross and the Methodist Hospital Service League.

She was a member of PEO Chapter FB, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a longtime member of several local bridge clubs.

She was a longtime member and very active in the First Baptist Church of Peoria.

After retirement, Virginia and Jim saw much of the country in their motor home. Later they spent many winters in Green Valley, Ariz.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Peoria. The Rev. Thomas Bayes will officiate.
