Oliver Byrne of Ardonia, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 1961) at Albany Medical Center following a long illness. He was 61.
Born in Baldwin, L.I., he was the son of Austin T. and Rebena Monroe [sic] Byrne. He married Margaret Sabarese on Oct. 27, 1929 and had lived in Ardonia for 40 years. He was a distributor for Byrne Bottled Gas and was a member of the American Legion, Benevolent and Fraternal Order of Elks, the Newburgh Moose, the Highland Chamber of Commerce and the L.P. Gas Association.
Besides his wife, Mr. Byrne is survived by four daughters, one son, seven grandchildren and two brothers, Austin St. Clair Byrne of Delta, Pa., and Terry Byrne of Long Island.
Funeral services will be held at Sutton Funeral Home, Crescent Avenue, Clintondale, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. George Johnson, pastor of the Methodist Church of Modena, will officiate. Interment will be at Lloyd Cemetery with American Legion services to be held there.
