Paul R. Paulson, 75, of Brooklyn, died Monday night, June 29, 1998, in the Veterans Medical Center, Knoxville.
Funeral services for Paul Paulson were held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, July 2, 1998, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. Dr. William B. Daylong, Pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. The organist was Marilyn Kriegel and vocal selections were by Cornerstone. Casket-bearers were Lyle Oswood, Ron Stonebraker, Ted Kriegel, Gene Adkins, Glen Stauffer, and Stanley Walford. Interment was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military rites conducted by members of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post # 294.
A memorial fund has been established.
Paul Richard Paulson, son of Carl Paulson and Mary Schilder Paulson, was born June 22, 1923, in Grinnell, Iowa.
Paul received his education in Brooklyn graduating from high school in 1941.
He served with the US Army from February 9, 1943 to November 13, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat on the Fifth Army front in northern Italy. Paul was attached to the 15th Field Artillery Observation Battalion serving with the Second Corps.
On July 30, 1949, Paul was married to Frances Pauline Swanson in Grinnell. He hauled milk and cream for 21 years for the Brooklyn Creamery and later Des Moines Coop. He was last employed as a car salesman for Nesselroad Chevrolet.
Since January 6, 1977 Paul has been a patient at the Veterans Medical Center in Knoxville.
Paul was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294, and the 15th Field Artillery Observation Battalion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Carl.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Gemignani of Rockford, Illinois.
