Frances Alouise Hanlon Cole
Birth: Oct. 10, 1906
Suffolk County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: May 28, 1993
Plymouth County
Massachusetts, USA

The youngest of 12 children, Fran Cole grew up on Park Street in Dorchester, Mass. She was about 12 years old when her father died. Being bright, she skipped two grades and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1922 at age 15. She became a stenographer and eventually went to work as a legal secretary for attorney John McEvoy in Boston. She worked for Mr. McEvoy for something like 40 years! Family lore says she kept secret from her husband that she made better money than he did. She sent both of the couple's sons to private Catholic high schools (Boston College HS and Archbishop Williams HS) and colleges (Boston College and St. Michael's College).
