ODESSA - Marie Elizabeth (Johns) Pierson, age 60, of Odessa, Texas died May 11,
2001. Burial was in Stroud Cemetery, Stroud, Oklahoma. Marie was born in
Houston, Texas Dec. 5,1939 to the late Russell Vernon and Frankie Esther (East)
Johns. She lived most of her adult life in West Texas. She married Ray Pierson
Nov. 1, 1972. This marriage brought much happiness to them and to their friends
and family. She was survived by her husband; brothers, Vernon Johns and his
wife, Billie, of St. Louis, Mo., and Bruce Johns and his wife, Debbie, of
Clinton, Mont.; children and their spouses, Larry and Sherry Pierson of Lubbock,
Linda Faulconer of Vinita, Okla., Peggy and Tom Greiner of Stillwater, Okla.,
Tom and Kay Dykes of Dallas and Terry and Penny Pierson of The Colony; nine
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She and her husband were members of
the Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa. Marie was involved in numerous
organizations and actively participated in them all. She was a member of the
Confederate Air Force for many years, serving the organization in many
capacities. Marie had a deep interest in genealogy and was instrumental in
organizing the Ann Burton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, as
the charter regent. Other organizations include Daughters of the American
Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Permian Basin Genealogy Society, Juliet
Fine Arts Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the
Republic of Texas and Beta Sigma Phi. Marie deeply loved her family, and the
Lord provided her many blessings from her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. The joy they shared was a blessing from God.
