Franklin Elihue Parker voluntarily enlisted for service in the Civil War on August 29, 1864, at the age of twenty two for a period of one year. He served as a private in Co. A, 1st Regiment Vermont Cavalry. He was wounded in the left hip and left knee by a gun shot wound during his service. Franklin received a pension for his service in the Civil War under pension no. 932824.
