Cemetery records show he was killed at Deer Trail, Co. He was in town for provisions. A man with a load of lumber offered him a ride. The team started to run, the lines were on the ground, he jumped to their heads and was knocked down and the wagon full of lumber ran him over, killing him instantly.

Interment was in Shelton Cemetery beside his wife.
There is a marker for him in the Evergreen Cemetery, Deer Trail, Arapahoe County, Colorado. Charles W. Palmer
