Only son of Peter Dozier and Sarah Frances Brown. Born and raised in Woodford County in the Millville Community. He was a foreman for Labrot & Graham Distillery for many years, following in the footsteps of his father. He had a love of western novels, and a hobby of fishing. In his later years, he worked as a carpenter and painter. After the death of his first wife, Agnes Daughtery Dozier, he married a widow Mary Shaw Flato in the 1970's, she never had children from her first marriage. They resided on Rose Hill. Sam was diagnosed with throat cancer, and his battle was short but painful. I can remember a gentleman who visited my home to give his condolences to my mother, who was Sam's daughter. He stated, one thing I could say about Sam Dozier, was you never ever heard him say one bad thing about anyone. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Dozier, one daughter, three sons, Samuel P. Dozier, III of Versailles, James D. Dozier of Versailles, and a son of Minneapolis, Minn. and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by the his first wife and mother of his children, Agnes Daughtery Dozier, three sisters, Miss Lillian Dozier, Mrs. Goldie Gordon, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson and two grandsons, Samuel Harris Moore and William Lee Dozier.
