The explosion followed, and the elder Yarbrough was fatally burned as he sat in a rocking chair in front of the fireplace. It was impossible to get the body out of the house until the fire was almost over. The blaze was out of control when firemen arrived. Interior walls and furnishings of the home were destroyed, leaving on the rock walls standing.
Mrs. Yarbrough, his wife, was in another part of the house and escaped injury.
