I'm not sure the inscription about the Civil War is right. The only record I found, so far, of James in the war is when he was in the 1st Calvary. I found the info. in the Kentucky Civil War Service Records. He fought for the Union as a Volunteer at age 19.

James had 18 children.
10 CHILDREN with Marcia:
Atwood Taylor
Richard B Taylor
Martha Francis Taylor
Joseph Everett Taylor
Alfred Taylor
McClung "Mack" Taylor
Henry Allen Taylor
Douglas Taylor
Anne Dee Taylor
James Newton Taylor

8 CHILDREN with Louisa:
Clara Taylor
Sarah Taylor
Lena Taylor
Addie Taylor
Florence Taylor
Albert Taylor
Frederick Taylor
Archibald Taylor,

Hi, I have a note in my family history that James was taken prisoner in Richmond, Virginia, and taken to Libby Prison and then Andersonville where he spent the remainder of the war (a total of 16 1/2 months). I'm trying to track the source, but thought you might like to know this.
