Vernon H. Christoffersen, 93, of Blair died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, after a brief stay at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair and Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Monday, Feb. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. I

Vernon Harold Christoffersen was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Spiker to Chris and Hilma (Follen) Christoffersen.

He married Gladys Kegler on Dec. 14, 1939. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Christoffersen was a lifelong Washington County farmer, who lived northwest of Blair. In 1976, Mr. and Mrs. Christoffersen retired and moved to Blair. They were presently living in their own home.

He enjoyed many years of traveling by camper, both with friends and their camping club. Playing cards had also been a favorite pastime. He was an excellent carpenter and had many woodworking projects.

He was a board member for many years at Summers School. He also had been active on the Cuming City's Township Board. Mr. Christoffersen was a past member of the Riverview Grange and current member of First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; four daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Carl Marhenke of Tekamah, Verna and Larry Dennis of Loveland, Colo., Jane and Harry Navrude of Blair, and Judy and Walt Dixon of Hastings; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Gladys Loftis of Tekamah; and several nieces and nephews.
