Cause of death: Accidental fall.
--------
A fatal and terrible accident happened to Mr. Fred Rippen Tuesday evening about 3:30 o’clock. When about to enter the meat market of Mr. L. B. Richter, he stumbled in some way and fell head first into a large glass window. A piece of the sharp pointed glass entered the left side of his neck and penetrated the jugular vein. Mr. Rippen recovered himself sufficiently to stagger into the meat market, where he fell to the floor and expired in a few minutes. Dr. Gus Schulze, who was just across the street, witnessed the accident and was at his side in a moment and endeavored to stop the flow of blood, but the unfortunate man was virtually dead when he reached him.
Mr. Rippen was about forty years old and leaves a wife and several small children. His remains were taken at once to his home, a few miles from Shiner.
