Mrs. L. May Wells
Mrs. L. may Wells, of Oneonta widow of Frank E. Wells, died about 9 o'clock Wednesday morning in Fox hospital in that city, where she had been a patient seven weeks, suffering from complications. She had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Wells was born in Middlefield January 30, 1886, daughter of Washington B. and Adeline (Ottaway) Acker. Her first husband, Claude E. Cook, died in the influenza epidemic of 1918. She was married nineteen years ago to Frank E. Wells, who died May 8, 1939. For about thirty years her home was in Oneonta. A woman of sterling character and friendly nature, she was held in high esteem. She was a good musician, and sang in church choirs at Middlefield and Oneonta. Mr. Cook and Mr. Wells also were choir singers.
Surivivng are two brothers, Howard W. Acker and Harry B. Acker, both of Oneonta; a niece, Mrs. Frank Gardella, and grandniece, Mona Gardella, of Oneonta; an aunt, Mrs. George Aspinwall, Westville and several cousins.
Funeral will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock from the Bookout Funeral Home with burial at Middlefield. The Rev. Richard R. Lloyd, minister of the First Baptist church at Oneonta of which the deceased was a devoted member, will officiate.
