"Pete" married Vera Mae "Bood" Mitchell in Butler, Pennsylvania, on September 25, 1944. Pete was the son of Austin Augustus Wehr Sr., b. abt 1868 in Pennsylvania and Anna E. ? b. abt. 1875 in Pennsylvania. He had one brother, Lewis (Mike) Wehr, and five sisters: Mrs. Floy (Florence) Mantz, b. abt 1898; Mrs. David (Irene) Hammerle, b. abt 1900; Mrs. Loujean Mecklem; Mrs. Alice E. Coon, b. abt 1904; and Mrs. Walter (Annabelle B.) Pfaff, b. Oct. 9, 1909, d. Oct. 3, 1988.
Uncle Pete cut the grass at his home in Conway, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA, and then went into the kitchen to have a cup of coffee and a cigarette. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack. He was employed by Armco Steel Corp., Ambridge, PA. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Conway Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends were received in the Jack L. Gross Funeral Home, Freedom, where funeral services were held with Rev. Richard Joslin, pastor of Conway Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom, PA. Uncle Pete was the closest thing I ever had to a father. He and my Aunt Bood treated my brother, Robert V. "Porky" Chop, and me like we were the children they never had. We loved them dearly.
