Lucille Hicks Holloway, 84, of Athens, died Wednesday evening, April 7, 2010, at her home.
A native and resident of McMinn County, she and her late husband moved back in 1981 after retiring from Pineville, Ky. A member and former Sunday school teacher at Antioch Baptist Church, she retired in 1981 from Clear Creek Baptist College as manager of the bookstore. She had served with her husband as he pastored churches in Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana, and at Pioneer Southern Baptist Mission in Ohio.
A daughter of the late Thomas E. and Georgia A. Bowers Hicks, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John Roderick Holloway, on Feb. 7, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Earla and Jerry Wilson of Athens, and Jackie Holloway and special friend, Diana Semonis, both of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Johnnie and Nancy Holloway of Elsmere, Ky., the Rev. Jimmy and Bonita Holloway of Columbus, Miss., and Tony and Pam Holloway of Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Cooper, Scott Fox, Eddie Fox, Jenifer Roseberry, Kent Holloway, Kevin Holloway, Chris Holloway, Leslie Holloway, Terri Holloway, Jason Holloway and Scott Holloway; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Thomas officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
