Francis Marion Speener, 72, died suddenly at 11:30 pm Friday in the building formerly occupied as an office by the old Decatur coal company at 102 S. Broadway where he had been living for some time. Death was due to heart trouble, with which he had suffered a long time.
Mr. Speener was born in Ramsey, Feb. 3, 1861. He and Miss Sarah Vaughn of Green Castel, Ind were married Aug 28, 1881. Twelve children were born to them, of whom the following survive, William and Alfred Speener and Mrs. Arthur Morstatler, Decatur, E. E. Speener, Elkhart, Ind and Mrs. Rose Foley, Peoria. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Hallie Smith, Shelbyville.
The body was taken to the Moran & Sons funeral home.
