A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on June 24 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Shelley Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on June 23 from 4-9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on June 24. A wake service will be held at St. Francis Convent at 7:30 p.m. on June 23.
Sister Mary Julitta was born on March 15, 1908, near Melrose, Minn. She was the first of eight children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Duevel) Westendorf. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on Aug. 12, 1929. She made her first profession of vows on Aug. 12, 1931, and final vows on Aug. 19, 1934. She was a Franciscan Sister for 73 years.
Sister Julitta became a registered nurse at St. Francis School of Nursing, Breckenridge, Minn. She did further study at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; University of St. Thomas, St. Paul; St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo., and St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee. She ministered as a staff nurse, instructor, supervisor, manager of inhalation therapy and orthopedic equipment, X-ray technician, anesthetist, administrator, patient visitor, sacristan and pastoral care minister. She served in Breckenridge, Perham, Little Falls, Alexandria and Morris, Minn., and Cudahy, Wis.
Sister Julitta was preceded in death by siblings: August, Anna Lahr, Mary Petermeier, and Bernard. Survivors include siblings: Herman, Melrose; Loretta Johnson, Menasha, Wis.; Rose Wiechman, Freeport; and Joseph, St. Cloud; niece, Sister Janice Wiechman, OSF, Little Falls; nieces and nephews and her sisters in religious life.
