Ruth and Maybelle were attacked by John Kimzey on May 23rd, 1928 (method of attack unknown); Maybelle died at 4 a.m. the following morning, her mother died that evening at 6 p.m. John's body was found at home, he committed suicide by cutting his own throat. The tragedy is presummed to have transpired at their home in a rural area north of Knob Noster.

Son Everett married Gleda Archer in South Dakota. He was killed in action March 24, 1945 in Belgium in WWII.
