Birth: May 15, 1901
Maria Stein
Mercer County
Ohio, USA
Death: Jun. 26, 1975
Allen County
Ohio, USA

From the Minster Community Post July 3, 1975

Alfred A. Albers, 74, R. 6. Celina, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday of a heart attack in a Lima doctor's office. He had been suffering from a heart condition for several years (which probably came from his mother's side since her brother also died of a heart attack shortly after seeing the doctor).

He was born May 15, 1901 in Maria Stein, the son of Henry and Mary (Roetgerman) Albers.

He married Rose Homan June 1, 1927 in Maria Stein and she survives with five children, Eugene, Phoenix Arizona; Mrs. Earl (Lucille) Newton, LaCrosse Wisconsin; Ivo, R. 6, Celina; Mrs. Paul (Alvina) Watchter, Germany; and Luke, Engelwood; five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Ida) Schaff, Dayton; Mrs. William (Marcella) Burris, Cincinnati; John, R. 1 Chickasaw; Herb, Maria Stein; and Mrs. James (Joanne) Peay, Adrian, Michigan, and seventeen grandchildren. A brother (Ed) and sister (Bertha Albers Wright), preceded him in death.

Mr. Albers was a retired farmer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe (thank's for the photo at right) church, Montezuma, and The Holy Name Society of the church.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Reverend Ambrose Ruschau officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery (the new cemetery). Hogenkamp's funeral home, Coldwater, was in charge of the arrangements.

Although this report says Alfred was born in Maria Stein, there area other reports that Alfred may have been born born in North Star Ohio. Henry and his wife Mary Roetgerman (Alfred's parents) lived on a farm in North Star until around 1917 when August Albers, Henry's father, died and left the family farm to Henry. The Albers family farm is within comfortable walking distance of St. John's church where August, his wife, his mother, and his son Henry are all buried. The Albers family farm is currently inhabited by August's great great granddaughter and her husband. They maintain a neat commemorative sign in their side yard which acknowledges the 1849 founding of the farm by August.

Alfred, 74, was a son of Henry and Mary (Roetgerman) Albers.

On Jun 1, 1927, he married Rosa Homan, who survived him.
