Marion was a farmer and a saw miller, was the School Commissioner for Dawson County for a while, was a Councilman for city of Cumming, and was an active member of the Masons. He is credited with rebuilding the covered bridge at Poole's Mill near Cumming in 1902 after floods washed away the original structure. He is referenced on the historic marker at Poole's Mill and there was also an article in "Georgia Back Roads" magazine, Summer 2008 pg. 6.
Obit in The Forsyth County News, Oct 4, 1923, indicated he was "buried at Concord", but no grave marker has been found.
