LAFAYETTE WORKER DROWNS at DELPHI
DELPHI - State police and Carroll county authorities searched the Wabash river here today for the body of William Brummett of Pittsburg. Brummett fell into the water Sunday morning as he started his motor boat preparing to spend the day fishing. A neighbor saw him fall into the river near the Monon railroad bridge and disappear. She called Brummett's wife and state police. Police were assisted in their search by several men who live along the river at that point. They stated that the river, being rather high at this time probably carried the body for a considerable distance downstream.

WILLIAM BRUMMETT DROWNS in WABASH
After many hours of dragging the Wabash river at Pittsburgh, the body of William M. Brummett, 57, was recovered about 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon--31 hours
after he disappeared. Brummett drowned Sunday morning about 10 o'clock after he fell from his boat several feet from the landing where he had launched the craft only a few minutes earlier. The body was found in shallow water about 150-200 feet downriver from the Vianco landing. His son, Russell, was among the group of men who discovered the body. Coroner C.W. Hunter said that death was due to accidental drowning.
Mr. Brummett was born Feb. 16, 1892, at Nashville, IN, the son of James K.P. Brummett and Sarah Jane (Percifield) Brummett. He was married in 1915 to Hazel Evelyn Stark. He was employed by the Brown Rubber company at Lafayette in the shipping department.
Besides his wife, he is survived by eleven children: Elsie Martin of Columbus, IN; Russell Brummett of Delphi; Arza Brummett of Trevlac,, IN; Leslie Brummett of Lafayette; William Brummett, Jr. of Logansport; Sarah Lecklitner of
Monticello, WI; and Donald, Vivian, Margaret, Fern, and Sally, all at home. He also leaves ten brothers and sisters.
After the recovery, the body was taken to the Patrick Mortuary, and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon [April 6] at the Delphi Methodist church with the Rev. Frank R. Briggs officiating. Burial was at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lafayette.
