| Birth: | Jun. 23, 1918 Old Town Penobscot County Maine, USA | | Death: | Dec. 5, 1973 New Britain Hartford County Connecticut, USA | 351st INFANTRY - "BLUE DEVILS"
Dad was one of nine children born to Maine logger Frank William Crosby and his wife, Helen Ruth Lee. He left Maine for employment in industrial CT before WWII and married Eunice Pasco, "the landlady's daughter" in 1942. As an American soldier in Italy during World War II, Dad was one of only eleven men in his group to survive the disastrous landing at Anzio Beach, and for his heroism was flown home for a "second honeymoon" at Lake Placid, NY. Don is survived by his daughters Catherine and Elizabeth and many grandchildren and a great-grandchild. His son Ricky died in 1954 from polio and his son Robert was killed in a bicycling accident in 2000. A charming man, a war hero who led a troubled life, may he rest in peace with his sons at his side. --Elizabeth Lee Crosby Simpson Family links: Parents: Frank William Crosby (1883 - 1961) Helen Ruth Lee Crosby (1893 - 1979) Children: Elizabeth Lee Crosby Simpson (1947 - 2003)* Richard Allen Crosby (1951 - 1954)* Robert Frank Crosby (1951 - 2000)* *Calculated relationship
