JoAnn Julia Chambers, 64, of Waco, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, at a Waco hospital. A graveside service was held for the family on Saturday, March 27, at Oakwood Cemetery with George Norris officiating. A memorial service for her many friends will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Kingdom Hall, 2308 N. Valley Mills Dr. in Waco with L.C. Nobles officiating.
JoAnn was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the third of eleven children born to the late Albert and Margaret Jenkins Snyder from Springfield, Ohio. JoAnn married George Chambers on April 14, 1978, in Hillsboro, Texas. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 1, 1972 in Corsicana. JoAnn was proudest of being a faithful and dedicated Jehovah's Witnesses for nearly four decades. She never met a stranger and was eager to tell others about her hope of living in a paradise earth where sickness, pain and death will soon be gone forever.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, George, who died July 22, 1993 in Waco; and brother, James Snyder.
Survivors include daughters, Paula Swatek and husband, David, of Waco, Bridgett Crumpton and husband, Cecil, of Bossier City, La.; son, Scott Snyder and wife, Shelly, of Axtell; grandchildren, Paul Snyder, Felicia Snyder, Timothy Snyder, Daren Snyder and Jimmy Joe Graves; sisters, Della Fife, Lillian Jones, Margaret Waller, Loretta Baker, and Dorothy Silvers; brothers, Carl Snyder, William Snyder, Albert Snyder, and Alan Snyder; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
