FLORA “SIS EDGER” HUGENOR

CAMPBELL - Flora “Sis Edger” Hugenor, age 74, a resident of Campbell prior to moving to the Bath VA Nursing Home in 1990 went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 5, 1998.
She was born in Gibson, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Morgan Edger. She attended Corning schools. Flora married Fred C. Hugenor in Gibson on July 15, 1950. He predeceased her in January of 1990. She was a member of the Woman’s Army Corps from 1944 through 1946. After basic training at Oglethorpe, GA, Flora was stationed at Rome Air Force Base as a medical technician. She later became an inspector at the Corning Glass Works Fallbrook plant until 1959 when she became disabled with arthritis. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Campbell, the Steuben Co. Home Bureau, and a life member of the Robert N. Austin Legion Post 1279 of Campbell, having served as president in 1962 and 1964. She had always been active in civic affairs including helping bring a Cinderella Softball League to the town of Campbell and forming the annual Gibson School Reunion.
While living at the Bath VA she was an avid bingo player and went on many day trips, to picnics, and ball games.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fredaann H. and Elmer J. Kuehner of Campbell; her three grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary and Elizabeth Kuehner. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Edger and sisters-in-law, Mary Edger and Florence Rose; along with 10 nieces and nephews and many cousins. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the staff at the VA Medical Center.
Her family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Funeral Home Inc., 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning where an Auxiliary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel conducted by the Rev. Msgr. Ralph Kuehner. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery of Campbell.
