Monsignor Casimir Krzysiak, P.A.S., was the son of John James Krzysiak and Helen (Cholewa) Krzysiak of Dobczyce, Poland. He had two brothers, Roman and Edmund, and one half-sister, Maria. He was born in Chicago and was a Catholic priest for over 60 yrs. He and his family moved back to Poland in 1933, before the beginning of WWII, and returned to Chicago after the war. During the war, Casimir was a Freedom Fighter with the Polish Army (the Armia Krajowa). He participated in the Battle of Glichow Bridge on Sept. 12, 1944. On the last day of the war in Poland, Casimir's sister was shot and killed by the Nazi's. She was only seven years old. After WWII, while in the seminary in Poland, Casimir was roommates and friends with Karol Wojtyla who would later become Pope John Paul II. Casimir moved back to the US with his family in 1949, but would often travel back to Poland to help the people of Poland who were suffering or needed help. In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI awarded Casimir with the title of, "Protonotary Apolostolic Supernumerary," the highest title given to Monsignors outside of Rome. For many years, Msgr. Krzysiak served as Pastor of St. Stanislaus Church in Utica, New York. A very kind man with a great sense of humor, he was lovingly known by his close family and friends as "Father Caz."

My father Jozef Sloma of Syracuse was friends with Fr. Krzysiak and I remember when we would visit with him in Utica. ~ Wieczny odpoczynek racz Mu dać Panie A Światłość Wiekuista niechaj Mu świeci na wieki wieków Amen.
