Clement was the son of Amos and Rebecca (Howard) Halstead.
Clement married Sarah Gilliland and was the father of Bertha, Evert L, Jesse T. , Roy, Gladys, Floyd and Zeke Clifford.

The lifeless body of Clement Halstead was found suspended by a leather shoe lace from a partition in a barn near his home at East Nebraska Street shortly before noon last Friday. County Coroner Henry Menke stated that Halstead had been dead but a short time.

The deceased was born March 26, 1864, near Portsmouth, Ohio, and came with his parents at the age of nine, to Nebraska, locating near DeSoto. On June 26, 1885, he was married to Sarah Ella Gilliland at Blair and to this union seven children were born, five of whom survive him. Two sons, Roy and Jesse, died during the past eight years.

Surviving him are his bereaved wife, two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Good of Omaha, and Mrs. Gladys King of Harrison county, Iowa; three sons, Floyd and Zeke of Blair, and Everett of Maxwell. California; also a sister, Mrs. Mary McManigal of Glenwood, Iowa, and a brother, George of Everett Michigan.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Jackson officiating, after which burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
