MRS. MARY CATHERINE (ECKMAN) WELLER, aged 88 years, widow of D. C. Weller, died Wednesday evening at the home of her son-in-law, Clarence E. Yost, Waynesboro. Pa., of infirmities of age.

She had been bed-fast for the last three years.

She was born in Eyler's Valley, the daughter of John C. and Adaline Eyler Eckman. When a little girl, her parents moved to Quincy, where her father operated a mill and store, later moving to Waynesboro, where her father operated an inn, which later became the Central Hotel. She had stood as a girl at her father's inn and watched the Confederate soldiers returning from the Battle of Gettysburg. The soldiers stopped at the pump in Central Square to fill their canteens.

For a number of years she taught school in the Friend's Creek section. She was married to D. C. Weller, July 25, 1871 at Emmitsburg. She spent the greater part of her married life in Waynesboro with exception of 12 years in Stewartstown.

Mrs. Weller was a life-long member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Her husband died January 23. 1936.

Surviving are the following children: Ernest E. Weller, Providence, Rhode Island; Charles R. Weller, Philadelphia: and Bruce S. Weller, Cleveland, Ohio. A daughter, Mrs Carrie Weller Yost, died some weeks ago from injuries received when struck by an automobile while visiting in Phoenix, Arizona, with her daughter. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Yost home, 138 South Broad street, in charge of the Rev. E. F. llgenfritz. Interment was made in Burns Hill cemetery.
