Her first husband, Robert Carraway, was the county surveyor of Childress County, Texas, in 1913. He was managing engineer of the Henry Exall Elrod Engineering Co., Dallas, Texas, before World War I. They wee married in September 1917 just before he was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the Engineer's Reserve Corps at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In 1919 he was discharged from service and resumed his work with the Henry Exall Elrod Engineering Company.

Their first child, Robert Goelet Carraway, Jr., born September 27, 1921, lived only eleven days. His death certificate says that he died of "inanition." Their daughter, Caroline Goelet Carraway, was born January 22, 1923.

Robert died of pulmonary tuberculosis in 1925 at Homan Sanatorium in El Paso, and in 1928 Anne Dickson Carraway remarried to Barksdel Green (B.G.) Harrison, a prominent druggist of Childress, Texas. They had no children.
