Mustered in as Quartermaster Sergeant; only served 3 months. Absent sick since May 8, 1862, sent to Cincinnati on board the steamer Lancaster No. 4 May 12, 1862 and received 20 day furlough.
Died at residence of his brother in Allen Co., IN, while on sick leave). Death date of Jun. 9, 1862 also found. Father Lott S. Bayless (also indexed Sot S. Bayless) filed Pension Application #342535 Jul. 22, 1886, in MI.
