Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Navy at New York and served as a Seaman Apprentice Second Class. His citation reads "On board the USS Quinnebaug, Alexandria, Egypt, on the morning of 21 November 1885. Jumping overboard from that vessel, Chandron, with the aid of William Evans, ordinary seaman, from drowning". (bio by: Don Morfe)
