was baptized at St. Mary's Church in
Maynooth, County Kildare at the age
of 3 days. Her father, William, was
a seaman, who drowned at sea when
she was very young. Her mother
Catherine remarried to Garrett
O'Shaughnessy, a member of the IRB.
They left Ireland in the 1860's
emigrating to NYC. In Manhattan at
the Church of the Epiphany on
8/21/1875 Charlotte married James
Adam Mackey, a Civil War Veteran
4th NY Heavy Art. Co. B), who was
born in 1839 in Schoharie County,
NY. They had five children: Frank
Forrester (1878), Mary Charlotte
"Mayme" (1880), Alice L.(1880-1880),
my grandmother Catherine Georgina
1883), and James Governor (1887).
In the early 1890's the family moved
back to Mackey's Corners in
Schoharie and took over Jame's
father's farm. James died there on
6/1/1909. Shortly afterward,
Charlotte and her two daughters
(who were still at home) moved to
Albany, NY. Mary died there in the
flu epidemic of 1918. Catherine
married Dr. Irving Hill Losee, DDS.
Charlotte lived in Albany with the
