Eleanor Crockett Camp passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born to Dr. John A. Crockett and Pat Crockett on September 22, 1922.

She was raised in Harlingen, Texas, and moved with her family to Austin after graduating as valedictorian of her high school. She attended Baylor University and the University of Texas, and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Following World War II, she and her husband, George T. Camp, made Beaumont their home, where George practiced law. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution and was active in civic and philanthropic projects as a member of The Junior League of Beaumont. Eleanor continued to serve her sorority as an alumna and was a province president of A D Pi for many years.

Upon George's retirement from law practice, he and Eleanor moved to Houston and then Wimberley, Texas. While there, Eleanor was instrumental in the restoration of Independence Baptist Church in Chappell Hill, one of the oldest Baptist churches in Texas. She and George spent their later years in San Marcos, and Eleanor moved to Austin after George's death.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and is survived by her brother, Dick Crockett of Seattle, Washington. Eleanor and George were blessed by the birth of four children, Crockett Camp, of Austin, Lou Pat Turner of Lubbock, Texas, Dennis Camp of Houston, Texas, and Melissa Hernlund of Houston, Texas, all of whom survive her.

Eleanor is also survived by five grandchildren, Catherine Camp, Caroline Camp, Lisa Stevens, T.J. Turner, and Erin Hernlund; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Camp, Garrison Camp, Alex Camp, Aiden Chowdhury, Kyle Stevens, Drew Stevens, Paige Stevens, and Cameron Turner.

A family graveside service will be held at the Masonic Cemetery at Chappell Hill. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Eleanor's name to the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority or the Independence Baptist Church in Chappell Hill.
