|Death: ||May 17, 1938|
Anna Laura is the daughter of James Strain and Lucinda Simmons Strain. She is on the 1870 and 1880 Arkansas censuses with her parents. She was born in about 1861. On the 1930 Laredo, Webb Co., Texas census Anna Laura, 69 is residing with her single nephew, Herman Strain, 50 and her husband Alexand Kelly, 91 (born in Chile, his dad in New Hampshire and mom in Chile).
She is listed on her nephews' (David and Joseph) passport applications, as a reference in 1918 and 1920. Her death date is listed on the Texas Death Index for Tarrant County. She was buried on 18 Jan 1940. No explanation for the time between her death and burial dates, as yet.
I'm so grateful to FWCS for sharing this old photo copy (on right), given to her by Hattie who wrote on it: "Annie Laurie Strain married 1st John Turner of Arkansas then married Alex. H. Kelley of Laredo, Texas when she died in 1939, born in Indiana - reared the two Strain nephews Herman and Joe." Identification of the man standing next to her is unknown. (Note: Herman and Joe are the youngest children of Anna's eldest brother John Simmons Strain, died 1881, when Herman was 6 and Joe was 3. Suspect boys mother Anna E. Duke Strain, died shortly after 1880 also.)
