ALEXANDER. - On the morning of 15th inst., Lucille May, daughter of T. and Laura Lister Alexander, aged one year, ten months and nineteen days.
Wednesday, April 20, 1881
Within a brief space of time an inexpressibly sad affliction has visited the family of Mr. T. Alexander. Two interesting children - all they had - have been taken from them. The little innocents died of that disease so fatal to children, scarlet fever. Sympathy under such circumstances is worthless, and so it is idle to offer it. Times alone can bring consolation to the hearts of parents under such affliction as this.

We were yesterday morning guilty of an almost unpardonable blunder in stating that Mr. Alexander had lost both of his children. We are, however, gratified to say that it was a mistake, though it needs not to enter into an explanation of the several circumstances that led us into the error. The oldest child was sent to its grandmother, near Greenwood, to be out of danger, when it was ascertained that the baby had scarlet fever. We extremely regret to have committed the blunder, yet, on the other hand, we are pleased to know that it was one.
*Lister did pass away a little over a month later.
