CORA PALMER SLAUGHTER
Mrs. Cora Palmer Slaughter, 97, of
Dublin, formerly of Richland, died
May 6, in a Pulaski nursing home,
following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Carroll County
and was a daughter of the late Robert
and Lula Hooker Gatewood, both
Carroll County natives.
She had made her home in the Rich-
lands area most of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Ed
Slaughter, two sons, William Dexter
Slaughter, Audna Earl Palmer, and one
daughter, Mrs. Edith Illinois Palmer
Crawford, also two brothers, Al Hooker
and James Hooker.
She was the last surviving member
of her immediate family
Survivors are four grandchildren,
William "Bill" Meade of Blacksburg,
Nancy C. McGlothlin of Fort Wayne, IN,
Sandra P. Palmer of Richlands and
Stephen D. Palmer of Lebanon; and two
great=grandchildren, Reba McGlothlin
and Christopher Palmer.
Funeral services were conducted
May 9 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott
Funeral Chapel in Richland with Dr.
James B. Hollenhead officiating.
Interment followed in the Hankins
Cemetery in Richlands.
Pallbearers were Gordon Mullins,
Raymond Patrick, Ernie Price, Roger
Pike, Ronnie Pike, and Jovon Horton.
Honorary pallbearers were Claude
Kendrick, Jack Altizer, Joe Bill
Altizer, Buddy Altizer, Rev. Carl
Robinson, Bud Altizer, Claude Kendrick,
Jr., Ronald Kendrick, Dr. James
Patterson and Sam Barnett.
Funeral arrangement were by Hurst-
Scott Funeral Home of Richlands.
