Celeste died at her home on 4513 McPherson, St.Louis,Mo. She was born on her father's plantation in Guadaloupe and arrived in St.Louis at the age of 6 years old. They arrived in St. Louis on the day of the Great Fire of 1845. She married Maclot Thompson in 1866.
Her funeral was held at the New Cathedral on Lindell in St. Louis. Her pallbearers were Paul Bankwell, Edward Walsh, George W. Hartnett and Dr. Elsworth S. Smith.
