Mrs. Nicholas Boubel, 83 years old, a pioneer resident of San Antonio, died at her home, 705 Van Ness street, at 12:40 o'clock Wednesday morning. She was a native of Reihnbier, Germany, where she was born February 26, 1832. She came to American in 1850, landing at New Orleans, where she lived for several years. There she was married to Mr. Boubel in 1852. They came to San Antonio in 1853 and lived here ever since.
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Boubel; four sons, A. Boubel of Eagle Pass, John, Louis and Edward Boubel of San Antonio; three daughters, mrs. Carolina Baier, of Houston; Mrs. Mina March and Mrs. Emilia Paulina Green of San Antonio; also 45 grand-children and 39 great-grandchildren, most of whom reside here.
Nicholas Boubel is now in his ninety-ninth year, but still is active. He is a native of Soran, France, going to New Orleans from London, England, in 1836. From New Orleans he went to Tio de Janeiro and other points in South America. In 1848 he came to San Antonio. He went to New Orleans in 1853. He was in San Antonio at the time of the civil war and is the only surviving charter member of San Antonio lodge No. 1, Order of Hermann Sons.
The funeral of Mrs. Boubel will be held from the home at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon and interment will be made in the Roselawn cemetery. Rev. Mr. Wolf, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, will conduct the services. The pall bearers will be Jim Stevens, John Bitter, F. Dolle, W. A. Johnson, Robert Straser and A. J. Kissling. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the San Antonio Undertaking Company.
