Services for Orda Bethenia Rogers Goodwin, 89, of Route 4, Lufkin, will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Bro.Norman Garrett and Bro. Bob Webber will officiate. Burial will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Orda died Friday, Feb 5, 1982 in a local hospital after a long illness. She was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She was a member and the last surviving charter member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Lufkin which was founded in the early 1900s.

Orda was born March 10, 1892 in Van Zandt County, Texas to Johnny Thomas and Rebecca Jane Mullican Rogers. She was the youngest of seven children. She was also the last surviving Rogers sibling of five girls and two boys. Orda married William Tom Goodwin in 1910. He preceded her in death in 1946. They had two sons and one daughter.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Goodwin, Byford Goodwin, Pete Fenley, Craft Fenley, Jack Blackburn and Oscar Rodgers.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Bobbie) of Lufkin and Carl (Martha) of Fort Worth; one daughter, Doda Bee (Garvis) Hines of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 10great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Gipson Funeral Home is directing the service.
